Wake Robin is me, Velma Bolyard. I have been making paper since 1977, when I studied it in college at Buffalo State. I make mostly plant papers beginning in 1981 at my mill, Wake Robin, in New York's North Country (north of the Adirondack Forest Preserve). I'm a weaver, spinner, dyer, paper and book maker, specializing in making work that reflects the place I live, including shifu and contact (eco or botanical pressure) printing. I can also milk a goat, ride a horse, make good cookies and goat cheese! I've also been a teacher of emotionally disturbed middle and high school kids, retiring in June of 2016 from SLL BOCES. My and teacher certifications are in special, elementary, and art education and my degrees are in textile design and education.
