leaf bundle
a little workshop
spontaneously occurred
spontaneously occurred
as a result of art walk
so,
dee, roberta, sally, padgett and sydney
came to terraphilia
dee, roberta, sally, padgett and sydney
came to terraphilia
and we made some bundles
that are from salida
the colors were very young very west
very different than
what i've been getting and
what happens at home.
unbundling
unbundling
and unbundling again
roberta's paper
dee's scarf
she brought us all
silk scarves to dye, the contrast
between silk and cotton
wasn't all that profound!
dee is one of those people who
make a living from their art.
her scarf and
one of her hand sewn, hand painted bags.
this group of five women
were such fine people, good artists, and generous with supplies,
humor, and the grace
of making things.
i even had a little tutorial
from sally and learned to print
with a gelatin plate!
thank you, all,
from your loans of pots and containers,
to your wonderful energy.
ooo yay! a bundle of lurve!
ReplyDeleteronnie, many bundles, even.
ReplyDeletewhat fun and lovely colours. what are the buttons all about?
ReplyDeleteYou know, looking at what you're all doing here Velma makes me think that dyeing is like finger-printing, that what you're getting is a sort of fingerprint of the world around you.
ReplyDeletesuch fine group!
ReplyDeletejean, buttons identify the maker of the bundle, i have them bring a few old buttons (all the same) so each can identify their bundles
ReplyDeletefaisal,
i love this faisal, yes, it is.
neki, these women rock!
Always so good to be so immersed in what you are doing that the whole world just goes away! Love workshops with like-minded women!!
ReplyDeletecait, of course you understand this!
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing piece of time you & those around you seem to be having. & I am in awe of that rock book...would love to know the story of making that.
ReplyDeletehs--story's been told on the blog a while back. WAY back.
ReplyDeleteOh... great... sharing, learning, co-inspiring.
ReplyDeletevalerie, yes! it was a great group.
ReplyDeleteI think spontaneity and serendipity are such wonderful things.
ReplyDeletefiona, you're right, how often are we NOT open to them?
ReplyDeletewhat a fine time you look to be having Velma...
ReplyDeleteJust lovely!
Terrific process pictures. And in such a great place. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you are/were in Salida! I drove through there on my way home from New Mexico to Michigan several years ago. I love the Arkansas river, the wide open feeling of it and the idea of UFO sightings there....I am so happy to see the color you are experiencing along with new friends
ReplyDeletesophie, it was great in many ways, lots of personal growth
ReplyDeletealice, yes, we have BOTH had some interesting travels!i m, i was able to spend some quality time along the river in a brand new gazebo (unlike any gazebo i've ever thought of); this is a town of kick-ass women and artists. very nifty.
