seeing

 in this bleak
weird winter
 vision shifts
 i search for red
my foil for sadness
what or who
has collected
these
 in anticipation of
slim pickings
a touch of blue and red
  wait
the road seems to wait for winter
which is playing games
for sure
 vision shifts
  wild vine
still has a few
grapes
just blue

blue play

indigo is all kinds of blue
 i stated a little jug.
i am not so good at keeping close to instructions,
sometimes...
&
after several days...
 morning and blue
 (this is what i did:
i put fresh indigo leaves in a jar,
filled it with water
and let it be for a few days)
and not much happened
 i pulled out the cloth
a silk wool mix and a shifu square
once in a while
and one night i poured in the rest of my
supper libation, dos equis,
onto the slightly tinted fabric
and a day or two more,
and a pretty big stink, too
there was a fine, light blue.
do not follow my lead
but do take a risk sometime-
risk of failure is nothing much, really.

home and blue

i spent a great deal of monday and tuesday sneezing.
eyes watering.
i laughed and said the pollen allergies were bad this year.
last night i took a nap after supper. before bed.
it was then i knew: i have a cold.
hannah is home briefly between grad school and summer work in bar harbor.
three days, so i took today off to be with her.
so what if i got sick.
so i'm happily blue, enjoying this sunnycool day with a huge cottony head,
watery eyes, lots of sneeziness.
we have errands to do, cleaning and sorting and sewing.
and wendy has been a little poorly, so will take her to the vet.
and friday hann will be gone.

gathering

i was looking for a way to better carry home the johnny jump-ups and violas i found.
i have a clutch of violas for ice flower dyeing that i added to yesterday. with the help of a wonderful basket.
it was beautiful in the cool sunlight, golden and windy.
cerulean
and time to gather hosta leaves, too
