endings

families gather
in good and in troubled times
 nephew rob with son ian
ian outgrew the big guy
(his childhood hero)
rob traveled with his youngest daughter
to help my sister post-surgery
erin came to entertain us all
after their dad's death but before the service
my kids cleaned out their stuff
and the attic
it was a huge, dirty, hot job
but it's done
ian met the new place
and said goodbye to his old one
goodnight room
my house is on the market
so i, too, can move
down the road a piece.
90 acres, no mule, good karma.

  4. Wow. As someone who has pretty much gone it alone, mostly in city-ish places, I can't imagine the 's-p-a-c-e-' in your life. A move down the road feels like a blossoming for you. And what a sad and wonderful synchronicity to have your kids and helping hands in one place to do a 'clear out' at just the right time. It all feels very expansive. Blessings as you move forward….even without a mule.

  8. Good karma for sure. The peak at the new place looks great. Sad times, new beginnings and kids who actually do clean out the attic. Tell my son please, we still have stuff we moved. It must be that passing of childhood memories they don't want to take. xox

  10. thanks, all, and corrine, you're right. it was his first visit in 8 years and the final one at this place.
mo, i've lived here 28+ years, and for about 25 without my kids dad. it's a good karma house despite the growing up pains.
