detour

 detour: oswegatchie river
 i've been passing this by
everyday on the detour home
friday the horse team was absent, work done
it was hard to get a good photo
(huge lines were in my way)
 but the changeable weather
made for light shows
 at home
 the leaves opened up
 for the lights
~~~
 i looked at two little abaca sheets
i had placed in a bundle
 and i learned something new
besides the ecoprints,
 the fern inclusions
from long ago
took up the dye color
and become dark presences.
nifty!
a mid august rain
afternoon rain came sunday
thunder growled
an hour
then it finally
rained and rained
wendy hid out, fearful, as usual
and i worked on hard pages
in shifu
finishing four in two days
and this morning
fog and damp
blanketing the porch table
the screens
my skin
and a home
 foggy interlude today
time to work
and think about things to come
plans coming to fruition
a visit, two, three, more
a trip, two, three, more
and then school again
a web for gin, who photographs spiders
a good day
saturday seemed to be a low energy day for me.
but it wasn't really.
i ended the day by opening up a bundle of shifu pages i had wrapped last weekend.
the bundle included frozen violas and hollyhocks
bloodroot
aluminum, rusty steel, my well water and vinegar.
this shifu was bundled around a bloodroot rhizome
nice striping
not a flying saucer
a bundle of shifu pages, layered with dyestuff
wrapped in old cotton sheeting
and tied
unwrapped
the bottom
the wrapper
the stack
not for the faint hearted if slimy stuff is a problem
spent flowers
the pages, in order of stacking
they will dry and wait several days
then i will rinse.
saturday morning i planted my indigo babies,
then my sister and i went to ottawa for CBBAG fair
(more later)
and we ate at canal ritz
this is how the day ended.
