the best fruit
in my fluish brain
i believed all these were the MOST
beautiful things i'd ever seen
this morning
from my chair
of healing on my porch
i don't know--
i suspect i was feverish
and the raven and eagle were merely crow and hawk?
opinions birders?
they were high and far and black hosted the golden
from the territory.
there was one final golden cry as it disappeared.
Looks like a crow, ravens have that sort of pie piece shaped tail. And at first look, I thought, no, not an eagle. Blew it up and find it somewhat confusing cause the light is so bright on both tail and head. However, I think eagles are much darker and don't have those markings near the tip. Also, longer in comparison to body and straighter. Those wing markings suggest broad-winged hawk to me, but can't see banded tail ... so, hard to tell from photo, I think.
ReplyDeleteBut if the medicine was Raven and Eagle, then so be it!
(how's that for a rambling comment) Hope you are feeling better this evening!
valerie, it sounded like a grandaddy crow but it was huge, and the hawk/eagle i thought was a golden eagle-that was my first impression, and the unhurried in your face sort of attitude seemed more eagle. but i totally defer! i looked for osprey markings, too. there is a river in the direction it was headed and i've seen them that way before.
ReplyDeleteI may not be able to add to the bird conversation - but can I start another? is that an acer I spy with its spring outfit on? it looks just like my acer negundo (except that mine is dropping its leaves preparing for winter)
ReplyDeleteyes! ronnie, it's our beloved sugar maple, this one is one of the two old ones left in my yard, though there are MANY on my land. this one is a good friend.
ReplyDeleteWho knows... I could be totally wrong, seeing a live creature flying is much better than seeing a photo, I thought golden eagle too at one point looking at your photo - cool birds whatever they were!
ReplyDeleteO and Ah is all I have to offer...oh that sky and those wings, that tree, and if it's fluish, it's still glorious vishioning.
ReplyDeleteMay you be well
Heightened sensations, Velma, and illness, they have their upside. I don't get sick very often but I like the softer way you get then, to look at the world.
ReplyDeletevalerie, when the crow flew over i struggled, very deep voice, then both appeared. i now suspect a big old crow and a young golden eagle
ReplyDeletems and faisal, working on kicking this thing twice in one year is TOO much.
I'm currently reading Crow Planet by Lyanda Lynn Haupt and Gifts of the Crow by John Marzluff - fascinating creatures, great books. Hope you are feeling better quickly.
ReplyDeletecontemplation is a healer
ReplyDeletejean, both books are new to me, i will investigate.
ReplyDeleteneki, "but it takes sooooo long," she whined, fully knowing that by so saying she was doomed to MORE
the crows her are so big lately. looks like crow and hawk to me. same scene here lately. i like the light and dark pair. 4 more crows and 3 more hawks and you could make a 9 lives patch. feel better.
ReplyDeletejude, probably right. hawk/eagle was VERY gold and VERY far away.
