the ladies are wearing white
in the deep afternoon
long pre-solstice shadows
on the one clear day this week
see how many colors of snow there are!
as daylight
sinking already
about 3:15 pm
and up close.
you can see
how beautiful the work
of humans
in the landscape
can be.
These corn ladies have brought me endless inspiration... and in the snow, heavens, they're GREAT!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo series. That last photo is captivating.I'm wanting to stretch my hand out and touch.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate to have a landscape like this to look deeply at. How varied it is in angle, tone and color when viewed like this.
ReplyDeleteoh, so pretty and so-o cold. the corn ladies are looking a bit wind swept.
ReplyDeletevalerie, me, too, to the point where all of you must think me a little crazy! but they're so beautiful.
ReplyDeleterobyn, me, too! absolutely!
michelle, yes. sometimes it's impossible to keep driving, i just have to stop and stare.
jean, yes, they are, and one has fallen into a lump. but only one!
No, not crazy at all.. possessing of VISION, you see and present them differently each time, revealing how one form is transformed again and again in beauty.
ReplyDeletei am ALWAYS sooooooo happy to see the ladies, Velma....especially now in their snow-swept skirts~ they're always dancing. i see them twirling and tilting like big bells across that field. who needs Frosty when we have the Corn Belles ? thank you for sharing your walks with us.
ReplyDeletevalerie, thanks, this is a very good way to see it!
ReplyDeletetherese, you're welcome. it's my drive, though, if i got to walk by them i would have met them all and had long conversations and the amish folk would think me more than mad! instead, i pull off the road and snap away, trying not to offend or aim toward a house or a human.
Lovely lovely ladies!
ReplyDeletefiona, well, thank you. i'll pass that along.
ReplyDeletebeautiful, especially the stitch marks through the snow between them...
ReplyDeleteindia, YES! i thought you might spot them! yay!
