the tiny plane, cape air,
noisy and very real
flew me back into the mountains
and adirondack lakes
there was a tiny death
a shrew in a mousetrap
exquisite. but not
in my cupboard
i finished a little booklet/zine
which i've editioned
and may offer for sale
if i can get my
act together
oh poor shrew... I love those tiny ones, but I understand not welcoming them into the cupboard! Pasha does a pretty good job of monitoring the mouse situation, but I've never had a shrew come in!
ReplyDeleteThe book looks beautiful! Good luck with your act, mine see-saws between together and not.
the book looks magnificent.
ReplyDeletevalerie, i've had all manner of small rodent in the house up to red squirrels (in size)! thanks about the book-
ReplyDeletedeanna, thank you! i'm not happy with my limitations (i used word which doesn't work for this) instead of being fluent in indesign. sigh.

ReplyDeletemo crow, thanks. it's just a simple piece, but it does have a sample in it!
Alice and I live-trapped a shrew, and then we needed to know what to feed it, while we held it for observation in the old hamster habitat. Wikipedia told us the shrews we were likely to be looking at were a)venomous, b)carnivorous and c)cannibals - the final one sufficiently freaked out the husband that we had to remove the beast a fair distance. However Alice said "I hope the chicken tastes like shrew" which is one of the best statements ever.
ReplyDeleteThe book is lovely - all the same greens I've been filling my eyes with the last couple weeks.
We have little tippety tap sounds in our ceiling at the moment. Dan likes to reassure me that maybe they are phascogales but I don't believe they are any kind of marsupial. xte
ReplyDeletelee, venemous??? wow. this one's too late for alice to try. thanks about the book.
ReplyDeletei am mesmerized by the tiny shrew & it's pinpoint claws. i always imagined them much bigger.
