skies full of flurries and...
i looked up when i came home a little bit early today.
there were some interesting things to see
besides snow
beady little eye. s/he's the porcupine in my big red pine.
and then a tile i'd ordered from the amazing novie trump
who knows just what i need.
i may be ready to try these out.
soon.
I love Novie Trumps work... and what great wings! I also love porcupines, though, of course, they do do damage. When I first moved here, I thought there was an alien gnome coming late at night.... I heard someone outside muttering to him/herself night after night... but QUITE the muttering.. surely, an alien gnome. One night I got a flashlight and looked outside to see a porcupine waddling around and muttering to her/himself. Luckily no dogs around to be worried about....
ReplyDeletei have YET to hear the muttering, but i HAVE heard twigs and bark come scattering down as they graze.
ReplyDeletethat is one big s/he porcupine. thanks for the link to novie trump, love her work. have fun flying.
ReplyDeletethe porky is up on it's hind legs and hanging out allover the place today.
ReplyDeleteworking on wing attachments.
they can climb trees?
ReplyDeleteporcupine-the last syllable tells you which species they like best!
ReplyDeleteI love the pine needles and the porcupine quills together. Maybe all that pokeyness is cozy for her, familiar.
ReplyDeletelife in the snow....great. cute little fella. I remember following wombat trails when I was cross country skiing years ago, such fun.
ReplyDeletecareful learning to fly with those wings velma, you need to practice where you have a clear run and no large objects in your flight path. would not like to see you injured.

I love Jennifer's comment... and, in response to Jude ( I do see how typepad's respond thing is a great feature, wish blogger had it!) I occasionally see porcupines way up high like a huge ball on the end of a branch, dangling over the road. They are QUITE the climbers!
ReplyDeleteWonders to behold! Art by Novie Trump and a porcupine in your tree.
ReplyDeleteAh Velma, we all need wings to fly, don't we! xo
ReplyDeletei will employ those wings, i'm sure! the porcupine have always been here, i first saw them skiing and wondered at the strange trails...until i looked up! if i were, by the way, more adept at computer stuff, i would have chosen typepad but blogger was supposed to be the easiest. i may change someday, but blogger has been good to me, mostly.
ReplyDeleteV- didn't really know about porcupine until you posted on the problems with them - pretty nasty critters. Hope Wendy gives them a wide berth. Go well. B
ReplyDeletei looked up the critter-it's a rodent, of course! that's why it's so darn clever! wendy is concerned about only some creatures, porckys seem to be off her radar. my first b.c. had two encounters. wendy ignores them.
ReplyDeleteWow. A porcupine. I thought it was a big cat at first!
ReplyDeleteand about as cuddly for me, as i'm allergic.
