and a few more small ones to come
but look LOOK at her
concertinas, and how
she has used that structure
to show the exuberance of her painting
to great advantage.
i lifted this from sophie's blog or whatever that
collection of images is called
of course i forgot to attribute it
but i will later when i find it.

there isn't enough time in the day - 10 minutes and a cup of tea?? and all those books. Love the woven binding in the first pic.
ReplyDeleteit's why i love libraries and i love getting to know the special collections...that's where interesting stuff lives. of course there's my own tiny "special collection"
ReplyDeleteVelma, this is the link to the special collection at the library where I worked, at the
ReplyDeleteSchool of the Art Institute in Chicago. If you get a chance to check it out:
http://digital-libraries.saic.edu/cdm4/index_jfabc.php?CISOROOT=/jfabc
The collection is the Joan Flasch Artists Book Collection.
Love this post...libraries/books rock in many ways. Cheers - Henrietta
Yes... I agree that libraries/books rock!
ReplyDeleteThey are rock-like solid foundations for culture and life.
Thanks for the mention and good to see you have a presense on Pinterest even if you didnt know it! Quite a lot of your images have ended up there! All collected at a linking page did you know Velma?
Hi Velma, just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

neki, you remind me of the short stack i currently have from st lawrence univ. library--get this, i have 2 local libraries and 4 univ libraries within 16 miles of my home!
Wow, I missed the rock books - positively precambrian! ;-) I really like things w/o corners!
ReplyDeletekit, no corners, but pretty rough and craggy! except for the two big ones, that is, they're globular.
ReplyDeleteBooks...I love them, I love their weight, the smell of the paper, the rustle of the pages...artists' books are a new concept for me, thanks a lot for this new window.
ReplyDeleteblandina, lucky you to be discovering artists' books for the first time. enjoy!
