snow

this is what one student completed
he will give it to his mom for christmas
it was important to finish it in time.
 and this was what
the land looked like yesterday
morning: the solstice
wet and dreary
 and then
today!
first light
there are inches of fluffy snow
and i am grateful.
YES!

  1. A beautiful Christmas gift for one's Mom, finished on time, even better!! My sister and I recalled one particularly busy Christmas for my mother, that some of our gifts were photographs of the gifts to come, pasted to an index card.

Not as much snow here, but enough, after the deluge of rain yesterday, to feel like winter again. Too much rain to do an outside Solstice fire, but a cozy gathering in the studio with to dream our dreams for the year. Blessings of winter to you.

  3. I wish we had snow here too but the weather in Spain decided to offer us a sunny, warm Christmas. Happy Holidays!

  5. London is grey and wet, and other parts of England have flood alerts. When we get snow, no-one can cope, it seems, and everyone complains! I miss its magic, the changed light and the quiet.

  6. margaret, funny how snow is so difficult to manage! it slows us down. rain is possible here later on, i'm hoping more snow!

  8. the shaking off and then settling down of the snow globe...each little crystal an orb unto itself. i rather like the subdued light...makes the warmth that much more

i was surprised to see how quickly it became brown slush .. and how slippery icy footpaths are !

  14. roz, icy is fun up until adulthood, when it turns into something to be negotiated with. my kids were/are still excellent skaters and skiers.
