whiter shade of pale

 the little bit of washi
that covered junko's work
 spun quickly and rough
 this is how neighbor,
dan and his helper dave arrived
my knights in yellow armor
last night there was another arrival
 not so welcome!
porcupine spent the night in the white pine
feasting

trail
wendy couldn't do it
and i couldn't follow it without snowshoes
my knees are below the surface
trail is the line to the left of the grandmother maple
we got wet

  3. the snow looks so lovely and I am so happy that I don't have to shovel it. do you spin the shifu thread on a bobbin winder?

  4. jean, ha! yes, sometimes, it's easy for little batches of paper.

  5. even when you share pics I still have trouble imagining that snow is not soft, fluffy solid stuff - like sheep's fleece.... I think it could be spun just like that paper....

  6. ronnie, it's soft sometimes, except when you have to heft it out of the driveway. then, not so much! think of ice crystals. lots of them. lots more.

  7. that is an amazing dump of snow! i might even be envious: today we got chinook winds and 38F to eat up our own white fluffiness.

  8. joni, peter in syracuse reminds me they have more. they always do. (it gets colder here, though). but we haven't had snow like this in ages. it's wonderful!

  9. I remember hefting deep snow like that ~ by hand/shovel ~ when we lived in Boston. The exercise took me down to my shirtsleeves! A tractor is much more expedient...must make easier hiking for dear Wendy.

    Happy season to you both!

  11. Nice to see your snowy world and a little bit of washi - its like a snowtorm wound around a spindle. Watching as the light fades and the snowy trees turn their gloaming-blueish/gray. Extraordinary right now. Happy snow!

  15. Hi V - we are back from a family visit trip and catching up with the world. Yours looks nice and snowy - just how you like it! Love the spun washi - esp the 'roughness' of it.

  16. Hi V - I know the snow must be a hassle; but it does seem so pristine and beautiful. Wishing you the beat in so many ways for 2013. Go well - peace. B
