it's been sitting around for a few weeks, now. i needed the pages to be a bit stiffer, and to sew the spine and two strips of fabric on the front and back covers.
it has a small pebble from machias.
and the sewing is roughly done, in gold waxed linen.
this little sewn book, 6.5x 8.5 is the beginning of an exploration of ecodyeing and mapping.
tonight:
outside
inside
second wooly bear

wonderful book mum, looks interesting. love the woolie bear, boston has none:(
brrr it looks cold there, no wonder the wooly bears want to come inside. the book is brilliant, wonderful way to record the ecodyeing. funnily enough i was thinking of doing something similar, but different...k.
oh, I love the book. I've been wanting to try a book for ages but just never get going. Your work is so inspirational. We don't have wooly bears--at least not that big and not at this time of year. Keep warm.
the book looks fragile and stout all at once.love it.
hann, that's the second one in the bathroom in as many weeks.
kaite, i want to see where your book leads you.
jean, well, no time like the present!
neki, thanks. i like that. i used lots of starch!
ha, that's committed me hasn't it! k.
kaite-i'm anticipating the results!
oh this is just perfect. i love it.
Lots that I love about this. Your frosty picture is like a dream landscape.
utterly exquisite= eco book
This is very nice .. love the book. Love to see all the pages ....
directed by Jude's blog. exquisite came to my mind first also, besides "way too cool". Love the pebble.
first decision made - single sheet binding using Adele's technique, i think i've got enough with selvedges intact. thanks Teach...k.
abstract expressionism -- love the first page revealed.
my lighting was SO bad, or i would have shown more. i will try again in good light.
It's beautiful Velma. I love it!
When I saw the photo of fog, frost, and ice through the window I thought it was a bridge spanning a great distance with 2 trucks on it at first. Beautiful photos, strange perceptions on my part.
thanks leslie
catherine, that's too funny--i looked at it puzzling then i, too, saw the bridge and trucks. i love that sort of perception wiggling.
it's funny, how the mind works...that gold
color..the color of the isabella tiger moth
that the wooly bear becomes/is and then, as
i look at the book, the stone with its
central wrap again repeats the 3 of the
catapillar....~
the book is beauty Full. it is quiet and
takes good care of the thoughts it holds...
and a very belated birthday wish for you...
and grace, happy birthday to you (didn't i see that somewhere?)
thanks for the kind words. i like this book, more are coming.
The book is a beauty Velma, literally. It feels warm and inviting, and needs touching! The stone/pebble finish is perfect - so nice when you get the right thing/element!
i wanted the ecoprints and the pebbles from maine to meet each other.
Love the book .... inside and out!
thanks. time for some words, i think.
