introducing:

roz making shifu
roz hawker has a new blog.
you should go over and meet her!
why? well, having JUST taken her class
 velma's classwork
 and i continue at home
at beautiful silks' symposium
where i among a cast of characters taught.
roz taught me to look at stitches
differently.
to see them as marks.
drawing, even.
and so i've been stitching
warping the little loom
for shifu

and missing the scent of eucalyptus.

  1. your stitches are so inviting. i can almost feel the softness of the cloth as the needle meanders in and out.

  3. watch out for that eucalyptus
    it's
    tricky and addictive stuff

Australians know that when you're wandering the whirled
    and it catches you unawares
    when you least expect it

that scent can have you howling like a wolf
    but
    only
if you've been away too long

  4. just start with one little stitch and it leads to another and another and another - such a beautiful, meditative motion.

  5. I love the mark-making with stitches V, such a gentle meander. And I know about missing eucalyptus - it is a stunning and evocative scent. I used to mail leaves to o/s friends so they could crunch them and remember home...

india, i wonder if i'll ever forget it's heady scent. it was IN my suitcase.
jean, you know from one stitch
fiona, for me it would be the north woods, humus od hardwoods and spruce, and boggy lands...
robyn, thanks for jennifer's link, i can see why you made that connection, too.
