poems seem to fall out of the murky november sky
along with watery snow
snowy rain
misshapen pod
for sophie
and wendy, that little scamp
went on a toot through the brush
before supper yesterday.
this is what she used to do
before she got sick
and today she's coughing,
symptom of her heart disease.
after school
most days
i've been dyeing
abaca ecodyed
detritus from the first big dye job
two very long pieces of
heavy japanese kozo
printmaking papers
gift from yoyo
about 7 x 42 inches each
several more in the pot
right now.

jude says two more weeks without electricity

I wish our studios were just down the lane from one another...
ReplyDeleteThe misshapen pod is beautiful in its curve and textures.
A little scratch behind the ear for Wendy....
me, too, leslie, i'd love to stop in (or have you stop in). wendy says, "ahhhh"
ReplyDeletelove to read your posts..I am thinking you are 'the Velma" who is a friend of Cait's? Yes?
ReplyDeleteit warms the heart to get even the smallest bit of good news and to be promise keepers - going forward. if we could only form a long chain and reach jude - the detritus is hardly rubbish - these are treasures. cheers and good faith to all. tell wendy to wear her rubber boots next time and woolen socks. x
ReplyDeleteI love the two very long papers. So rich in color.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the coughing...but glad for Wendy's desire to romp in the brush!
Thanks for the Jude tid-bit too. Now if we could hear from Michelle.
V-but we have to let them run free!! Love the outcome of the abaca ecodying. Go well. B

Hi Velma, I pop by from time to time to enjoy your varied, thoughtful, colour full posts and beautiful photos. Thank you for the update on Jude - a lot of people are missing her ...
ReplyDeletekat, thanks for stopping by and "speaking".
ReplyDeleteHa... Wendy out in the bush... like her old self.... good for her, hope the consequences aren't scary for her. Nice dyeing. Look forward to something like a routine again, whenever that happens. No flakes here, but getting cold.
