a thank you and a pink book

thankyou to you who visit wake robin. hard to believe that my words and pictures hold *something* for you. i'm glad. it makes getting through the darknesses easier.
below zero at midday. one water tap is already frozen.
and sometimes in this strange interbetweenplace,
by means of the interpixies, as india says, magic happens.
i have made some fine friends this way, through conversations.
this piece of vellum is a beautiful pink. carol taught me how to dye it.
i filled it with things...
a title
and a poem
for aimee, who is far away in california.
mills students: look out! great semester ahead!

  4. A sweet little book. They say it'll be -20 tonight, windchills of -30.... YIKES! I OVERLOADED wood into the house today, but, alas, only so much fits into the stove! Being gone all day tomorrow, I might cave and put a little electric heat on....

I do get something from reading your blog... lots, thanks to you, too!

  5. What do I get from visiting your blog? A portrait of a strong woman living with nature on the opposite side of the country, following a path of art and sharing it with young people who need it. I just happened upon your blog, and I return because you inspire me! Thank you, keep on, and stay warm!

  10. it's such a tiny book too, no bigger than a dragonfly. your blog is one of the few that i MUST read regularly, even if i don't always comment, your words are so insightful.
stay warm any way you know how, k.

  12. V- wow it is really cold where you live - as a sunshine person I am sure I could not cope for long. The tiny book is beautiful - such a gift to weave such tiny, delicate and detailed 'pages' that do not really need words. On the warmth issue I think you need all those dogs back - and borrow a few from the neighbours. Thinking of you. B

  13. Hi Velma - I think this book is exquisite and needs nothing more said - perfection! I hope you are going OK in the dark and the cold; I know my body aches to relax into warmth when it is cold, even tho I have never experienced that degree of coldness. Thinking of you, wishing you warmth and light and longer days.

  14. only minus 20 on the back porch this morning, 26 below in town, 35 below in the mountains. we just manage, though i don't like it. i have to keep the furnace set higher than normal, and supplement with the woodstove. there are always hot flashes, though--

  15. Well, here in South Dakota we're having our ususual winter, but things seem worse in the northeast somehow! The thermometer show 10 degrees, which seems about right for the end of January. Hope things warm up for you soon! On the other hand, that little book is delightfully warm and charming. I love the soft pink cover and those pages are just gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing it...Patti
