walking on tuesday i heard this:
and i found these narcissi in my yard.
so today i was sitting at the table writing, and a large thing went by the window.
then another, and a third, by then i had identified them.
under the arbor vitae, there were three
in a heavy snow squall
i opened the door and spooked them
they reconnoitered in the back yard under the white pine, then
made tracks for the woods.
TURKEYS!!! reminds me of ft. drum days when i'd look out the window. so glad we were able to talk today!
ReplyDeleteoh, me, too. so glad to be 'out of my head' (you know) for a while. grin.
ReplyDeleteHA.... looks like my yard, I posted photos of my turkeys last night.
ReplyDeleteoh, that is too much. i don't feed anybody anymore, so i was surprised to see them in the front yard. they are such goofs, too.
ReplyDeleteall i have is a feather.
ReplyDeleteyou could draw on fabric with it after you carve a nib.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh.... to see plant life once again would be lovely. We will continue to get more snow for another three days. Don't know where to put it anymore. Rabbits, squirrels, deer, coyotes, chickadees and other birds visit my front yard. I really don't know what I would do if a turkey arrived. LOL! You put a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteoh my, I've never seen a wild turkey. it's nice to see a promise of spring.
ReplyDeleteDer spring is sprung
ReplyDeleteDer grass is riz
I wonder where dem boidies is?
narcissi!!and turkeys . what an oddball fun combo. it always amazes me what your neck of the wood brings to you.
ReplyDeleteV- good sign - the real spring can't be too far away. As Fiona indicated you could always come this way and share some warmth. Cheers. B
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the snow dripping and the bulbs appearing - such reminders that it will warm up again. I've never seen turkeys just out walking before - fabulous fun!
ReplyDeleteah the first signs, but it certainly looks grey and cold there still.
ReplyDeleteit is cold, today 10 below zero and up to around 15 or so, but sunny again. m. says the narcissi will die, but i know better.
ReplyDeletebarry, fiona, kaite, i'm working on it, but it won't be until 2012, if ever, unless somethign else happens!
india and neki, you two are so fun!!!
Your turkey shots are such fun...narcissi and still so cold. We have feet of snow, the bulbs are still sleeping here, but good to get glimpses of them as reminders.
ReplyDeletethe only bulbs that are even visible are right next to the house foundation in the two spots that get lots of sunshine. elsewhere there's still kneedeep or so snow! what a winter!
