surprise!

walking on tuesday i heard this:
and i found these narcissi in my yard.
so today i was sitting at the table writing, and a large thing went by the window.
then another, and a third, by then i had identified them.
under the arbor vitae, there were three
 in a heavy snow squall
i opened the door and spooked them
they reconnoitered in the back yard under the white pine, then
 made tracks for the woods.

  6. Ahhhh.... to see plant life once again would be lovely. We will continue to get more snow for another three days. Don't know where to put it anymore. Rabbits, squirrels, deer, coyotes, chickadees and other birds visit my front yard. I really don't know what I would do if a turkey arrived. LOL! You put a smile on my face!

  10. V- good sign - the real spring can't be too far away. As Fiona indicated you could always come this way and share some warmth. Cheers. B

  11. Glad to see the snow dripping and the bulbs appearing - such reminders that it will warm up again. I've never seen turkeys just out walking before - fabulous fun!

  14. Your turkey shots are such fun...narcissi and still so cold. We have feet of snow, the bulbs are still sleeping here, but good to get glimpses of them as reminders.

  15. the only bulbs that are even visible are right next to the house foundation in the two spots that get lots of sunshine. elsewhere there's still kneedeep or so snow! what a winter!
