trying to find my center
so i went digging
wrestling bloodroot
sweating hard
blackflies swarm
no biting, i sweat, smell raunchy
or the roadside embankment soil does
a beer can reward
miller lite five cents return
i wrestle with big rocks and surprising
root systems that hold together
the road. does everyone know
the delicate lace that supports pickups
in rains that wash out bridges and culverts?
two hours work
for a bucket of sand and clay and rocks and
struggling with health-tomorrow i see the orthopedic surgeon
the cold drifted into allergies
my camera is wonky
but i have a treasure
for catherine and the gathering
at her house, dyers all
we shall see magic.
sending you healing thoughts. it's still so cold and damp here that my allergies haven't realized it's spring. we don't have bloodroot, I'm pouting! good luck tomorrow, it's a holiday monday, here.
ReplyDeletethanks, jean, i'm hoping! bloodroot is lovely, but just orangish.
ReplyDeleteI love bloodroot leaves, such a nice shape. Good luck with the orthopedic dude or dame!
ReplyDeletethanks. he's gotten rave reviews. bloodroot does NOT want to come up this year!
ReplyDeletethis is a very funky time of year. or funky time of time, period. i'm hating the allergies but i suppose it's part of the cycles, too. BIG hugs and glad you did the hard work! wish i could have joined you.
ReplyDeletei know you're strong, your help would have been appreciated! i poured sweat onto the ground. my offering.
ReplyDeleteAllergies - me too. It saps one's endurance. I thought at first you said you were rewarding yourself with a beer for all that hard work! Not a bad idea. Good luck with the Doctor. We are fortunate to live in times when can get a new joint.
ReplyDeletelike the beer reward system.think i'll do like the japanese &wear masks to fend off pollen
ReplyDeletegood luck with the Orthopod, i'm guessing you gave that finger a workout with the digging.
ReplyDeleteblood root can do more than 'just orangeish'...depends how you coax it into the cloth...
ReplyDeletel, n, a beer is a great idea!
ReplyDeletek, i babied it forever, and maybe gave up too soon
i, i've had brilliant golds to deep orange to orangish with just simple dyeing, would love to see what magic you coax from it.
playtime awaits after the stacking of hay...
ReplyDeleteoh, i love haying! after, not so much during the work!!!
