i heard his voice all summer
but saw him
first today
i used to have returning cardinals
who
year after year
fought their reflections
in my studio window
each spring
from a lilac perch
how much better to have
a shock of brilliant
red
on another sick morning
red red in the wild blue grapes
get well soon.
ReplyDeletesickness is for the birds
magic
ReplyDeletei like the pic of the cardinal: its dreary and cheery at once!
ReplyDeletewild and wonderful. hope the honey and ginger is working.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, we don't get these in the UK, most all our birdies are brown, aside from the occasional blue tit, how lovely to see a shock of red on a cold and otherwise grey day.
ReplyDeleteHi Velma - I hope you are on the mend and not feeling so wretched. That is a stunning bird and I love it against the soft blue grey of the grape. A very special moment. We saw a wallaby in our back yard yesterday - stopped us in our tracks!
ReplyDeletehey, all-i made it to work today and didn't keel over. the cardinal was a portent, indeed. now, if i saw a wallaby...
ReplyDeleteV-stunning blurred grainy photos - makes the flash of red against the brambles and grapes mysterious. Thanks for sharing. Be well. B
ReplyDeleteb, getting better, finally!
