real things

 things reflected
refracted
the eye fooled
 it happens frequently
glennis wrote about a machine that sews
like boro
i see outside
through puzzle of glass and screening
and still try to sort
inside from out
out from in
and i take a photo
of more boro
but that's not
what it really is
instead it's a fashion shoot
on newsprint
faded and sunprinted
but false as the machine
that pretends to be arthritic old fingers
piecing together a life
from scraps
what do we do about this thing
profit, commerce
that tries to make a buck
from thrift and modesty
and even poverty?

  6. i say just keep on going. i can't change the world but i can be myself. i control that. enough? well it sort of has to be. not everyone will agree with me, but i might get a few inspired. not going to waste my energy by giving them mine.

i'll remain open and willing to sit with anyone who wants to learn the way i do things.

that's all i've got to give.

  7. I think there will always be (and always have been) people who want to pretend they can make the hand-made by machine and therefore claim it is better. We live our lives to show the opposite and the wonder, beauty and magic of the slowly made and hand made. Vive our little revolution!

  9. i don't think that little machine will fool many in the long run but in the rush to hurry every little thing we lose so much and so many.

and there can be integrity in advertising and marketing, there really can. i know it when i see it and feel it-this just was not it.

  10. i know, but glennis your post caught me at a time when all i was thinking about was greed and marketing and the inevitable disappointment children experience as a result of advertising invading all out lives, ads rather than authenticity.
