red/hunger

 red caught my eye
 it was so cold and my eyes were teary
 i got closer
blinking
 closer still
 in fact
 i got down on my knees
tried to see
tried
 and it finally came into focus
and then
i saw another
~~~
it's a lean time for humans
i like that.
i'm glad
i don't have to find my food
outside.
  1. i love the way you've become a poet with photos! it complements your natural poetry so well. i can imagine you on your knees, too.
  3. this would make a neat flip book...back and forth and forth and back, in focus and out. we're suppose to get our first real snow in chicago. sad thing is it will cover the three dandelions that are blooming on my mother's lawn. small and down to the ground as well but just that little bit of color really makes them pop.
  4. henrietta, you could go out and harvest them and make a tiny eco bundle with them to remember the delight of little suns in winter.
  6. great idea...about saving them on cloth. i hope they are still there in the a.m. we are suppose to get our first accumulation of snow...3-6 inch. late for the season. it should come your way probably in another day.
  8. V-you are so right - at times it all seems so hard, so black, so shrivelled and yet for many of us that is just a moment or a comparison. Your photographs and observation is such a reminder that we have so much when compared to so many who must search and struggled for the very basics of survival. Thank you so much for these images and the reminder that we are are so fortunate even in our difficult times. B
