playing with habu yarn on the stump
i had to put paper behind the warp to see it
it changes a bit with the lighting
but the paper and nylon thread is amazing
i love this furry little square
but didn't until i
added the piece of paper
love it, too and would love to feel it. It is an amazing yarn and the square shows it at it's best.
ReplyDeleteyou are so smart! to add the paper! i am so happy that you are playing with the yarn and tackling its many challenges.
ReplyDeletethis is an amazing yarn--is it spun out of paper? in any case, I love the evanescent quality of your square that results from the twists of the yarn and the spaces in between warp and weft.
ReplyDeleteyes, it would be amazing to touch this little piece...it looks so strong and fragile all at once - almost like a bird's nest...those little weaver birds that make those amazingly huge nests. so beautiful. do you have a needle or an improved shuttle for this? now i'm going to just look for a few minutes
ReplyDeletejean, so simple, this kind of weaving...and so rich
ReplyDeleteaimee, you know just how to entice me! and it was out of total frustration!
hannah, i thought you were another hannah! evanescent is a fine word for this paper (and nylon or silk, i forget) yarn.
henrietta, i use a 6" long needle. i seem to have a connection to birds' nests!
ReplyDeleteit's happy
ReplyDeletea coat for a beastie, jude?
ReplyDeletethis is so gorgeous! I love the texture
ReplyDeleteHi V - love it! And I went to Habu today - yippee!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - its very "active" rhythmically.
ReplyDeleteronnie, i feels good
ReplyDeletefiona, NO WAY!!!
valerie, you're right it does have lots of springiness.
it says fondle fondle vey quietly.
ReplyDeletewish i were rich to go on a habu shopping spree.
neki, you and me, both
ReplyDeleteTexture always shouts out to me and I am dying to feel this piece. As Henrietta commented it has a strong and fragile quality.
ReplyDelete...as if you are weaving the forest floor. a breathing.
ReplyDeleterobyn, it's surprisingly tough
ReplyDeletemansuetude, the woods in november, before snow.
delicious. utterly.
ReplyDeleteI love it too.
ReplyDeleteindie, i know you'd like to hold it
ReplyDeleteyou, too, morna
