last night i had a little argument with a pair of jeans
and my middle finger
maybe it was the damned 2 percent lycra,
but the jeans won.
the e.r. is a weird microcosm
a world of health care
so now i have a bad
bad finger.
splinted for six weeks.
which is annoying.
apparently this injury is most common in little leaguers
my tendon let go with a little pop
i'm right handed. and a bit annoyed.
oh no!!!! i hope the recovery is smooth, though it may be slower than we'd all like, i'm sure. yikes.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Last year I had a fight with a pair of pants and finally kicked my foot through in desperation only to hit the leg of the bedside table.... broken toe, very painful, walking was hard... but it wasn;t a finger, I think that might be worse for an artist! Swift healing!
ReplyDeletei so love these hands of mine, and will try to be patient as it heals. i am SUPER aware of fingers right now!
ReplyDeletethey really are handy, you take it for granted sometimes....
ReplyDeletedamn the jeans.
ReplyDeletedo i see betty the beater in their future?
no, hann, they have 2% lycra or whatever and will make yucky pulp.
ReplyDeleteGosh and they werent even Levi's?!
ReplyDeleteWill avoid lycra after seeing this lol hope you heal swiftly :)
yes, livi's with lycra! six weeks of the splint. yuck!
ReplyDeleteOh sister,
ReplyDeleteHow art thou?
Sounds nasty and impossible.
Be kind to your hands.
Soon.
CM
very annoying, it doesn't hurt much, but the splint is too long, so i've modified it.
ReplyDeleteooooh ouch!!!! deffintely elevate for every picture :) get well soon!
ReplyDeletewell that stinks.
ReplyDeleteI know this! Once cut my thumb down to the bone...
ReplyDeleteAwareness...lots of it!
and lots of: ***grrrr***harrumph*ggrrrmmllll***
All the best!
of course it was the lycra!
ReplyDeleteask me why i buy ll bean jeans and have them sent over here?even pay tax on them .
make lemonade of it and start giving a finger :)
ac, s, u, n, you are right with me and my grumbling. neki, i keep trying ll bean jeans but the buggers do NOT fit. never have.
ReplyDelete:( Hope it heals up soon. Molly just came out of a cast for a broken wrist (their one snow day of the year she slipped on the ice and landed smack on her scafoid bone) so I'm intimately aware of the frustration of having one's dominant hand restricted and hurt.
ReplyDeleteginny, i wish it had happened when molly's did (poor molly!) so spring would be splint free. or maybe i just wish it was over!
ReplyDeleteand well you might be feeling sorry for yourself, that looks very tedious.
ReplyDeletehmmm...tedious, good word
ReplyDeleteOooh, I did that, years back, with my little finger (an overstuffed drawer refused to take one more t-shirt). Pop! I found it didn't hurt much, which was good. After the splint came off, I did some exercises with an oversized screw and nut--to help my finger work again. For me, and I heal slow, it took longer in the splint than six weeks. Be patient (very, very hard to do!). I prescribe lots of chocolate.
ReplyDeletesooo, i can increase my chocolate intake?!!!
