seeing

 in this bleak
weird winter
 vision shifts
 i search for red
my foil for sadness
what or who
has collected
these
 in anticipation of
slim pickings
a touch of blue and red
  wait
the road seems to wait for winter
which is playing games
for sure
 vision shifts
  wild vine
still has a few
grapes
just blue

almost a full bouquet of the seasons h ere today. the splash of color really does add happiness...we're having 40's and thunderstorms here. BTW, the official growing zones have been changed...most areas are now a half step warmer...I was a 5a now it's either 5b or 6a. Go figure - "yes, george, there is no global warming." cheers to the joy of a few berries.

we keep getting everyone else's snow. boy would i like to happen upon some red berries! instead, ive been doing things i dont do often just to mix it up a bit: cooking dinner and cleaning the cat box!

I love and need red in the winter as well. I use red silk thread for a real cheer up at this time of year. I collected two boxes of red scraps for a quilt I'm planning - all red.

Yay, red!

the red is wonderful but I love the nest - a hoarder, just like me. treasures all.

what are they - crabapples?

val, judy, jean, the red IS so necessary, so helpful.
jean, you could curl up in this nest!
kaite, no, high bush cranberries. (i believe, i could be wrong)

Mmm...a time of waiting. Contrasts are so visceral.

A weird winter indeed V! We are experiencing it in small proportions on our visit here. I have been taking photos of the stark almost bare branches with their fruit or berries still attached - so beautiful and "new" to my eyes. I alsomlove the moments the red berries appear.

oh, fiona, i forgot! yes, a new way to read *bleak*.

V-I understand that at certain times blue is the new red. B
