omg as my students will write (once only)

over at the new place, down the road a piece.

 this is one of my new neighbors

and i recently got this:

 a fine package

from asao shimura

who taught me japanese and pina papermaking

long ago

at carriage house

a day at bittersweet farm

sunshine cheeks

stretched muscles

dirt and bugs and worms

and happiness.

i am terribly long winded!

a day of watching

 on the way home thursday

these amazing beasts were up high, 

i barely found the camera,

they were actually quite close and massive 

they're heavy horses

 wendy is better today

staying close by, 

checking in,

looking for my lead 

in between all the crazinesses after work 

a package lay 

unopened

 and has given comfort

 and more comfort

i lay my hands on this

and i could feel the stitched love

and so

a little piece of dyed shifu 

went to visit.

and one phone call meant so much.

just life

i had a flu bug of some sort yesterday, today i woke to a frigid (minus 10 degrees F). 

no more achiness, and no chills and fever. oddly i had no other symptoms. 

i was told today this has a name, that it is "in the area". 

go figure. 

night before last i was typing and my hands started to shake (chills) so badly 

i couldn't hit the keys! strange.

this afternoon:

 out the kitchen window, in plain sight of big birds, but close to the house

 wendy hates chipmunks

and they tease her 

i drove to potsdam for dog food 

and people food at the coop, and up on a hill i spotted these lovelies.

as we move into spring i looonnnnnng to ride.

that leopard appaloosa caught my eye.

look closely. this is the cutest mould and deckle, my prize from handpapermaking's spring auction. made by the incredible lee mc donald.

and did i mention there are two of these? the paper made on these two is business card size. 

one laid, one wove. both beautiful.

every leaf is a prayer, by aimee lee. a gift coming to me the day my sister died. 

thank you. you wouldn't have known, nor did i. amazing timing. 

the last day of school (except a few days of post stuff, including some exams). i got to ride a horse today at pray road stables. just a little bit. it felt wonderful. thank you, paula.

joke's on me

louise has a sister/brother and a mom, because there are three and it's obvious they are "together". all three of them hung out in the back yard today. north of here, where i work it's mud season, but here we still have enough snow cover to still be in winter. that's why louise and family like my yard, red pine needles, spots of grass, and the brushy areas i leave because i don't live in town. yesterday i spotted two of them resting and chewing their cuds. i actually saw them chewing!

so, ok, i am not a sports person, but i did watch a bit of the olympics at my friend's place and last saturday hannah and i spent a l...o...n...g... time watching curling. and being a textile person i thought to comment on the norwegian team's argyle pants. but hannah's done it for me on her blog. 


i'll wait for the next olympics, it's a summer one, right? when maybe i'll get to see ian millar, my hero, ride again. for me, it's all about the horses. and me, i once rode in the same flat class with him. wonder of wonders.
