back home, and a death

 the tiny plane, cape air,
noisy and very real
flew me back into the mountains
and adirondack lakes
 there was a tiny death
a shrew in a mousetrap
 exquisite. but not
in my cupboard
 i finished a little booklet/zine
 which i've editioned
 and may offer for sale
 if i can get my
act together

boston stuff

i'm sitting in hannah's living room
in brookline
surrounded by librarians in waiting.
 working on homework.
 we visited here
but couldn't see the studios
(drop ins not welcome)
 waited for this
but didn't find one
 instead found this
 anime person
looking for the holiday inn
lunch at trident
yummy.
as were the cannoli
from mikes.

good advice

GOOD ADVICE
being naked
and knowing it.
i am following my heart tomorrow to boston,
on a little aeroplane
to visit my last born,
get a hair cut, teach her tunnel books,
to be a mom
to see her before she graduates from simmons.
i had the webcam on all day in my classroom
papa heron was visiting
his woman and her four eggs.
to boston and home in three days.

a little edition

that's (below) what i've spent way too much time on
computer design when i have NO skills

it's all hit and miss
except i know what i want it to look like.

and the one on the right--well that's a breeze
it's cloth, after all
not a damned word doc.
it's my journal for april.
shard 1. green
2. yellow
i keep finding cloth in the yard
she's on number three
perspective
and a little (ahem) waste
the detritus of my learning
the curve is steep.

blue promises and blood

i like great blue herons
and at the cornell ornithology lab
there's a webcam set up
to spy
i sat, spellbound
a cyber spy

 the heron, carefully moving about
rearranging the architecture
taking good care of the blue promises
and another miracle
i've been waiting for
bloodroot

long haul

caliban press poster
i am exhausted.
until friday,
not one day at work
has had any light in it.
not one. for weeks and weeks.
 morning departures
have been monumental
hard.
 this image
wild and deeply real
on my mind
and these
lovebirds.
yesterday i saw birds mating
on a telephone pole
kestrels.
couldn't get a photo
because i couldn't stop looking.
and this:
old foundation
waiting, waiting.

another roadside adventure

 the roadsides are greening
and the pussiess and catkins and poplars have
pulled in, cold,
waiting
 i played footsteps
with turkeys
 and maybe a dragging tail?
 i heard it first
 and then i saw
my neighbor driving
his evening commute
you can see the green roadside?
 myrtle on the roadside
equisetum, too.
in other news:
some stories
coming along when i may.
but they are good ones.

take

"take what you need and leave the rest"
i obeyed this invocation
from nature's storehouse bulletin board
so i did, and passed it on
and it came back to me
 a package of wonders
and a book of experiments
from the alchemist aimee
go see this post! you must!

 how i love the work
from asao shimura at asa press

fiber things

 milkweed bast, gathered last night
in my meadow
about 18 years ago i gathered it, too
on skis, on deep snow pack
skating along on the polished surface
using a pack basket
instead of my pockets
i brought home the whole stalks
last night i peeled it
listening to the woodcock begin it's calling
 delicious, lovely, strong
aimee and i have been writing about it
how much we love it
how everyone's milkweed paper is
appropriately their own
 and the tiny pussys
 are catkins
after this another
hot hot early spring day
